Policy Statement
Independence
Pay It Forward Scouting is an independent nonprofit entity. It operates outside of Scouting America and is not affiliated with any official Scouting structure.
However, the organization’s mission is to serve and support youth who are actively participating in Scout programs.
Safeguarding Youth (YPT)
Pay It Forward Scouting (PitFS) is committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for every Scout and Scouter we serve. PitFS follows Scouting America Safeguarding Youth (formerly Youth Protection Training/“YPT”) guidelines and expectations, including a culture of active supervision, appropriate boundaries, and prompt reporting of concerns.
We expect our volunteers and Board members to uphold these standards whenever engaging in any PitFS-related activity involving youth, families, or unit leadership.

Due Diligence and Follow-up
Each request will undergo a basic verification process to ensure need and legitimacy. This may include a phone call to a Scout or Scouter leader or checking council registration.
Approvers will determine the level of diligence based on the nature and amount of the request. Follow-up will ensure that funds were used as intended.
Succession of Assets
In the event that Pay It Forward Scouting ceases operations, all remaining net funds will be transferred to the Pathway to Adventure Council, Scouting America, earmarked specifically to provide financial support to youth with demonstrated need.
