Mission Statement
To ensure every Scout has access to the whole Scouting experience, regardless of financial limitations, by providing fast, flexible, and low -overhead financial assistance for uniforms, camp fees, equipment, registration, and other essential needs. While the primary beneficiaries will be Scouts, Scouters (leaders) may also be eligible for grants in circumstances where their participation directly benefits the Scouting program and its youth members.
The program will launch with a modest budget and a focused geographic area. As we demonstrate proof of concept and operational effectiveness, we may expand to broader Council boundaries and, ultimately, to a national level.
No direct payments will be made to Scouts or other beneficiaries. All disbursements will be made directly to the appropriate service providers (e.g., Scout Shops, units, camps, or the Local Council), and only for the specific items or services requested, i ncluding unit and council registration fees.
Both benefactors (donors) and beneficiaries (Scouts or Scouters receiving assistance) will remain anonymous wherever possible. Public reporting and promotional material will avoid disclosing personal identities.
Who We Are
Pay It Forward Scouting is an independent nonprofit entity. It operates outside of Scouting America and is not affiliated with any official Scouting structure.
However, the organization’s mission is to serve and support youth who are actively participating in Scout programs.
Beneficiary Request
Each request will undergo a basic verification process to ensure need and legitimacy. This may include a phone call to a Scout or Scouter leader or checking council registration.
Approvers will determine the level of diligence based on the nature and amount of the request. Follow-up will ensure that funds were used as intended.
Beneficiaries (or their representatives) will submit funding requests via a web form. Each request will trigger an email to a shared mailbox monitored by board approvers.
A board member will review the request, determine eligibility, conduct due diligence, and process it within approximately one week. If denied, a simple email notice will be sent.
If accepted or under review, the requester will be informed.
